About the Webinar
Oximetry is a ubiquitous tool used by sleep health professionals, because it is simple to use, sometimes the science behind it is not readily thought of. Dental sleep providers should be aware of the benefits and limitations of pulse oximetry, particularly in individuals with darker pigment. Understanding the regulatory landscape regarding pulse oximeters will enhance the DSM practitioner understanding and applicability to their practice.
At the completion of the webinar, the attendee will:
- Describe the mechanism of action of pulse oximetry
- Consider the limitations of pulse oximetry as it applies to skin tone and the applicability to dental sleep practices (AHI/Hypoxic Burden)
- Assess the FDA guidance documents and impact to practice
