In this presentation, Dr. Krishna Sundar will cover the history of the Apnea-Hypopnea Index; what it is, why we have it, and who uses it, including issuance, government reimbursement, hospitals, PAP devices, corporations in sleep, patients.
We will also explore the future of the AHI as the current AHI alone is often incomplete for diagnosing and treating patients for OSA. AHI should however not be disregarded, but instead used as a part of many tools for diagnosing and treating OSA.
We will also discuss how phenotyping of patients will make difference in the future for patients needing OSA treatment.
