MedMark’s Dental Sleep Practice magazine honored to be chosen as the official sponsor of the Dental Sleep Education Four-day Course Session for the Greater New York Dental Meeting

(Scottsdale, Arizona, May 23, 2018) MedMark Media, Publisher of Dental Sleep Practice (DSP), an award-winning magazine dedicated to the treatment of sleep-disordered breathing in the United States, is honored to have been chosen to sponsor the Dental Sleep Education Track for the Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM), Sunday, November 25-Wednesday, November 28, 2018.
Lisa Moler, CEO and Publisher of DSP states, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with the largest dental show of the year. This offers us the opportunity to provide such valuable education within the dental sleep arena. Dr. Steve Carstensen and I both are so proud to be spearheading such a prestigious event through our publication, Dental Sleep Practice, thus continuing our ongoing dedication and passion to educating and ultimately treating this growing epidemic.”
The statistics on Americans who suffer from sleep disorders is staggering — with 25 million U.S. adults having obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), according to the American Sleep Association. Untreated sleep disorders have been linked to hypertension, heart disease, stroke, depression, diabetes, and other chronic diseases, but according to the National Sleep Foundation, an overwhelming majority of people with sleep disorders remain undiagnosed and untreated. Children’s airway development may be an even bigger problem and opportunity for dentists to impact the health of the next generation. Dental Sleep Practice magazine focuses on educating dental professionals on how to identify these patients and steer them toward more productive lives and healthier sleep. These eight seminars, taught by speakers who represent the top educators in sleep dentistry, will support dentists through practical sleep apnea education.
As Editor in Chief of Dental Sleep Practice, Steve Carstensen, DDS, understands the niche of sleep dentistry and the importance of awareness of sleep disorders to the contemporary dental practice. Dr. Carstensen focuses on treating obstructive sleep apnea and snoring at Premier Sleep Associates in Bellevue, Washington. He completed the mini-residency in dental sleep medicine at UCLA, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, and lectures internationally, including the Pankey Institute, Spear Education, and several dental schools. For the American Dental Association, he is leading a first-ever Children’s Airway Conference this summer.
Dr. Carstensen notes, “Dentists across the country are realizing they must be part of the health solution for their patients. By recognizing people at risk for sleep-related breathing disorders, dentists expand their impact beyond the smile to the whole person. This conference will feature practical education that will be useful right away in their practice.”
As many as 1/3 of dental patients are potential candidates for dental sleep therapy.  To transform these potential patients into active patients, dentists must be educated on the benefits of detection and treatment. To achieve these goals, Dental Sleep Practice will provide two lectures each day at the GNYDM, from Sunday-Wednesday. Led by Dr. Steve Carstensen and a host of other successful OSA physicians, along with well qualified representatives from each of our amazing sponsors, it is certain to be an educational event that you will not want to miss while attending GNYDM.
Our list of sponsors is growing.

Analysis, treatment planning, and the order of a SICAT OPTISLEEP appliance can be done in one single patient session. This course will be lead by Dr. Erin Elliot who speaks nationally and is an active member of her local American Dental Association, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and is the past president and a Diplomate of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy.

ALSC’s curriculum overcomes the known limitations of many laser dentistry courses, and we are excited to offer courses by Dr. Vitruk himself specifically focusing on laser frenectomies in connection with oral restrictions.
